Materials
Silver
We use 925 Sterling Silver plated chains and solid 925 Sterling Silver chains, bracelets, earrings, pendants, and rings. Our wire is silver or gold coloured and tarnish-resistant. We do not use nickel or nickel plated jewellery components.
Gold
We don’t keep gold as a stock item but can source it for a bespoke order. Contact us by email to discuss your specific requirements. Gold rings are not currently offered.
What is Sterling Silver?
The Sterling Silver standard is also known as the 925 standard. It means that for every 1000 parts of metal, 925 parts are pure silver and no more than 75 parts are a different metal, usually copper. If the Silver were 99.9% pure, it would be too soft to be of practical use in jewellery. The addition of copper makes it harder but still malleable.
Copper wire
Our copper wire is tarnish-resistant enamel-coated copper wire and should not leave verdigris stains or marks on the skin. We also use other fine wires which have coloured tarnish-resistant coatings.
Charms
Our sterling silver charms are Pandora™-compatible and have been tested for fit on a Pandora™ metal bracelet
Chains
Our sterling silver chains are available in different lengths.
We recommend that you measure a chain that you already have, to work out the length that you need, or use a piece of string draped like a chain around your neck, mark the length you need, and measure that to the nearest inch or centimetre.
The length options displayed in the options are in whole inches and rounded to the nearest whole centimetre.
Resin -what is it?
Ultraviolet (UV) light curable resin is a liquid mixture of short-chain molecules (monomers and oligomers), a compound that starts the curing process (photopolymerization initiator), and other additives.
When exposed to UV light, the photopolymerization initiator starts a chemical reaction that causes the short-chain molecules to bond together (polymerisation) to make complex long-chain molecules – polymers. This process transforms the resin from a liquid to a solid state.
Once cured with UV light, UV resin is considered to be inert and safe. All our resin is properly cured, Whilst an allergic or other reaction to cured resin is possible, it’s extremely rare. The resin we source is advertised as non toxic.
UV resin has many other applications apart from jewellery, and is present in many objects around us in every day life.
Seaglass
We source genuine seaglass collected from the Northeast English coast. Occasionally we find our own on our local Suffolk beaches.
Seaglass is simply pieces of glass that have been worn into smooth shapes by wave action on the seabed or shore. It usually has a soft, warm, ground-glass surface.
